What's The Problem?
![]()
Melody and Brenda
thought it was a good idea to put their allowances together and buy a video of
their favorite movie, but they get into an argument about it just when they
were getting ready to sit down and enjoy it. Mel says that she’s right
about the video and Brenda says that she’s right, too. Mel’s older
brother, Shaun wants to know what all the yelling is about. He listens
and tries to help work it out.
Can two people be right at the same time? What do you think?

Hi, it’s me,
Brenda, and my best friend is Melody James.
We do lots of things together, like on Saturday night she’s coming over to my house, except we are having a little problem about who gets to keep the video we bought together. Did you ever have to share something with a friend? What did you do? |

Hi, Mel here, I just love watching movies with my friend Brenda.
We even bought a copy of our favorite video, but we both got upset about whose idea it was. It’s no fun fighting and I don’t want to lose my best friend. What can we do to stop feeling so upset? |

Shaun |
Hello, my name is Shaun. Melody is my little sister. She can get pretty dramatic when she’s upset. We talked awhile and I reminded her that there are lots of ways to work things out. It’s important to take time to think about how the other person sees things. What are some things you do when you are trying to solve a problem? |
