Making a Difference                       National KIDS Website                    E-mail the KIDS

The Kids on the Block (KIDS) are an extraordinary troupe of educational puppets that help children understand physical differences such as cerebral palsy and educational differences like ADHD.  The KIDS also address social issues such as cultural diversity, divorce, self-esteem, teasing/bullying and alternatives to violence.  Professional puppeteers present carefully crafted stories that sensitively address these important issues in a way easily understood by elementary students.  The performers cleverly interact with their audience, engaging and entertaining them with their humorous antics, and teaching many important lessons along the way.

Family Services Center's Kids on the Block have performed for Huntsville City and Madison City/County, private & parochial  schools since 1984.  The staff includes a program coordinator, professional puppeteers and volunteers.  The KIDS perform for over 13,000 students and adults each year, thanks to the generous contributors to the United Way of Madison County.
