As a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, Family Services Center (FSC) provides free one-on-one counseling to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
You can meet with an FSC counselor to discuss the options to avoid foreclosure, the foreclosure mitigation process, and design an Action Plan covering the specific efforts necessary to avoid foreclosure.
The FSC counselor can assist in working with your lender in solving the mortgage delinquency, and will contact your lender and government assistance programs, as applicable, to work with them to prevent foreclosure. Budget and credit counseling will be provided as necessary. You should be prepared to provide recent correspondence from your lender, plus your income and debt information, and any other information relevant to delinquency of the mortgage.

As part of the federal government's comprehensive
Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan (HASP), you may be eligible
for a special Making Home Affordable loan modification or refinance, to
reduce your monthly payments and help you keep your home. You also
may be eligible for assistance through the Alabama Hardest Hit Program. If you are eligible for
a loan
modification or refinance program, an FSC counselor will work with you
to compile an intake package for your servicer. |
